After 5:00, they were what people politely called “functional alcoholics,” pouring another drink to take the edge off. And me? I reached for sugar or carbs every time life got bumpy. Cookies, bread, ice cream—my automatic comfort.
For years, I thought this was just my thing. A bad habit. A weakness I had to fight alone. But then I realized—it wasn’t just mine. It was a lineage wound.
The Aha Moment
