Autopilot is for Airplanes, Not Your Life

Autopilot

Summer’s wrapped. The backpacks are back in action, college dorms are full again, and most people are sliding right back into routine. Work. Dinner. Netflix. Sleep. Repeat.

Then what happens? The holidays hit, and suddenly it’s January 1 and everyone’s talking about a “fresh start.”

But here’s the truth: waiting until January is just code for hitting autopilot. And autopilot is fine if you’re flying to Denver, but it’s no way to live your life.

You’ve still got four whole months left in 2025. That’s an entire quarter of the year – four months of energy, inspiration, and momentum you can claim right now.

Think of it as a sacred runway into the new year—you can either coast into it half-asleep or land with fire in your eyes.

Here’s a fun way to stir up some energy for these last 4 months: open your camera roll. Yep, scroll through your year. Notice what photos light you up—moments you were laughing, glowing, connected. Then notice the ones where you look tapped out, drained, or just…meh. Your phone is already telling you the truth about where your energy’s been going.

The 80/20 Rule (Rewritten for Your Soul)

Here’s a little truth bomb: not everything you do matters equally. In fact, most of it doesn’t. There’s a principle called the 80/20 rule that says 20% of what you do is responsible for 80% of your results. The other 80%? Mostly noise, busywork, or obligations that drain your energy.

Now, let’s put that in soul language: 20% of your energy practices create 80% of your breakthroughs. That short meditation you actually show up for, the daily walk where your intuition whispers to you, the candle you light with intention before diving into your work—those are the small things that ripple out into massive shifts.

On the flip side, the drained-out selfies, the forced meetings, the “I should do this” routines? That’s the 80% of fluff that keeps you stuck on autopilot.

The key to finishing 2025 lit up isn’t about doing more. It’s about getting radically clear on your 20%—the few things that light you up, move the needle, and actually feel good in your body and soul.

(If you want to nerd out on the original idea, Mark Manson has a great breakdown of the 80/20 principle here).

So to intentionally keep your energy going for the last 4 months of 2025, I came up with 5 quick and easy (because things don’t have to be hard!) ways to build a runway into 2026.

5 Ways to Redirect Your Energy Before 2026

  1. Check Your Energy Leaks

Forget the to-do list for a minute. Ask yourself: Where am I leaking energy, where am I overextending myself and where am I fueled? Your intuition will answer faster than your planner ever could.

  1. Do a Camera Roll Audit

Instead of writing lists, scroll back through your photos from this year. Your camera roll doesn’t lie. Notice what lit you up—big smiles, sunsets, friends, rituals, adventures. Then notice what drained you—screenshots you never used, stressed-out selfies, moments you forced yourself through.

Keep more of what fueled you. Delete (or at least stop repeating) what drained you. That’s your 20% clarity check.

  1. Make It Ritual, Not Routine

Ritual turns the ordinary into sacred. Light a candle with intention. Pull a card. Say a mantra. Take three slow breaths. It’s not about time—it’s about intentionally focused energy.

  1. Take Back Your Calendar

Your schedule is a spiritual battleground. Block sacred time now—for creativity, rest, play—before the holidays eat it alive.

  1. Choose Your Spark Move

This is your mic-drop moment before 2026. Pick one bold, soul-aligned action you’ll take before December ends. Start the thing. Share the thing. Say the thing. Call it your Spark Move.

Future-you will thank you.

Here’s the Deal

You don’t need January 1 to “start over.” You’ve got 4 months right here, right now, to shift your energy, realign with your intuition, and finish the year not just strong—but lit up.

So the next time you’re tempted to coast, remember your camera roll. Do you want to scroll back in January and see four months of autopilot? Or four months of magic, spark, and soul-driven momentum?

Because autopilot? That’s for airplanes. Your life deserves more than that.

With love,
Lynnette
